A Handicap Placard After Joint Surgery?
|
| |
|
You may need a temporary handicap placard for your motor vehicle (even if you’re only a passenger), in the weeks immediately after surgery when you can only walk short distances.
Ask your surgeon’s staff how long they recommend you have the placard and how to get it. (DMV.org offers general information on obtaining and using a disability placard for your motor vehicle. Policies may vary by state.)
Some surgeons won’t approve the placard for knee replacement patients, because walking is good for your new knee!
