Frequently Asked Questions About Pregnancy

Q:  My baby is overdue and I'm stressed about it. What can I do?

A:  The stress of still being pregnant at 41 or 42 weeks can be difficult to handle. Talk to your doctor or midwife about your concerns and what medical intervention may be necessary and when.

Your healthcare provider may try to induce labor if you’re more than a week overdue, but this decision is based on several factors, including how the baby and your placenta are doing.

Don’t feel as though you need to field friends’ and relatives’ questions about being overdue. A simple answer to inquiries: “We’re sure he/she will arrive when ready. In the meantime, we’re not going to worry.”
