Total Joint Replacement FAQs

Common Questions Orthopedic Surgeons Hear from Joint Patients

Q:  What is the schedule for follow-up visits with my surgeon?

A:  After your first follow-up visit, anywhere from 2–6 weeks after surgery, some surgeons may schedule additional follow-ups at 3 and 6 months post-op. The frequency of follow-ups depends on your age, the type of joint replacement you’ve had and the physical demands you place on that joint.

Beyond these initial follow-ups, your surgeon will probably want to see you in a year and then every 3–5 years after that. Please contact your surgeon if you have any questions or concerns.
