Total Joint Replacement FAQs

Common Questions Orthopedic Surgeons Hear from Joint Patients

Q: What are knee and hip precautions?

A:  Knee and hip precautions are positions your surgeon may want you to avoid for a few weeks after surgery while your tissues are healing. Not all patients receive knee or hip precautions. If your surgeon orders precautions for you, your physical therapist will go over them with you.
