Total Joint Replacement FAQs

Common Questions Orthopedic Surgeons Hear from Joint Patients

Q:  When will I be able to return to work after my surgery?

A:  It depends on the type of work you do, how your recovery progresses and your surgeon’s preferences. If your work is primarily sedentary, you may be able to return a few weeks after your surgery (returning part-time at first, if you can, is a good idea).

If your work is more physically rigorous, you’ll require more time before you can return to full duty. Be sure to talk with your surgeon about returning to work.
